Enjoy!
Zager and Evans was an American rock-pop duo that was formed in the 1960s. They are named after its two members, Denny Zager and Rick Evans. They are best known for their hit single from 1969, "In the Year 2525", which we will talk about right now.
The song "In the Year 2525" is a very unusual and bleak futuristic tale. The song topped both the US and UK charts and stayed at the No.1 position for 6 weeks, which was longer than any other song in 1969. It also earned the distinction #1 record of the year (1969).
"In the Year 2525" reflected the apprehension of the times and also the wonder of technology. The song started its run at the top of the charts just a week before the landing on the moon by Apollo 13 mission.
