1965: The Rolling Stones made their US TV debut on Hullabaloo. They performed the song ‘Get Off Of My Cloud’. Hullabaloo was an American one-hour musical variety series that ran on NBC from January 1965 through August 1966.

1966: The Doors signed officially with Elektra Records in a deal for the band to produce 7 albums. The band members also reluctantly agreed to release ‘Break On Through’ as their first single. The lyric from the song "She gets high/she gets high/she gets high" was changed to ‘She gets/she gets/she gets" and that is in order to secure the song to be played on the radio.
1969: Janis Joplin badmouthed a policeman and used vulgar and indecent language during a gig in Tampa, Florida. She became upset after police moved into the hall forcing fans to move back to their seats, and eventually she was arrested. As Joplin left the stage, she also confronted a detective, called him 'a son of a bitch' and told him she would kick his face in. She was released on $504 bail.
1969: The Carpenters released 'Offering' which was their debut album. Later on, it was re-named to 'Ticket To Ride'. The album was a commercial failure and produced only one hit single, a ballad version of The Beatles song 'Ticket to Ride'.
1980: Blondie had their 5th UK No.1 single and 3rd No.1 of this year with their song 'The Tide Is High'. The song was written by reggae star John Holt, and it reached the No.1 spot on the US charts.

1987: Dire Straits became the first act to sell more than 3 million copies of an album in the UK. The album 'Brothers in Arms' contained 5 top 40 singles which were: ‘Money for Nothing,’ ‘So Far Away,’ ‘Walk of Life,’ ‘Brothers in Arms’ and ‘Your Latest Trick.’ The album is the 8th best-selling album in the UK chart history.

1992: Ozzy Osbourne announced that he was retiring from touring after a concert in California, saying "Who wants to be touring at 46."
