1964: Bob Dylan made his first major appearance in the UK when he played a concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London with an afternoon show listed as a ‘Folksong Concert’. The concert included 18 songs which included the live debut of Mr. Tambourine Man and took place on a Sunday afternoon. In the interval, he received a telegram from John Lennon that asked to meet dylan, but that meeting did not happen eventually.

1967: The Beatles began working on a new John Lennon song, ‘You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)’ at Abbey Road studios. The song was finished only in November 1969, and was released in March 1970 (as the B-side of the ‘Let it Be’ single).

1971: Tony Orlando & Dawn topped the UK singles chart with 'Knock Three Times', the band's first of two UK No.1 hits. Singer Tony Orlando had retired from singing when he was persuaded to front Dawn for studio recordings.

1975: Elton John was awarded a Platinum Record after selling a million copies of the album 'Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy', the first album ever that was certified Platinum on the day of its release.

1990: Nirvana played the last date of a North American tour at the Zoo in Boise, Idaho. This was also Chad Channing's final concert with the band, as drummer Dave Grohl replaced him in September of that year after his own band Scream had split-up.
1996: Johnny Guitar Watson, who was a US blues guitarist, died of a heart attack while he was touring in Yokohama, Japan. Eyewitness reported the Watson collapsed mid guitar solo. His last words were "ain't that a bitch."
2012: Donna Summer, also known as the Queen of Disco, died of lung cancer, an illness she believed she contracted from inhaling toxic particles released after the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York. Summer won five Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, and had three multi-platinum albums, including the hits 'I Feel Love', 'Hot Stuff', 'Baby' and 'Love to Love You.
