1965: Tom Jones topped the UK singles chart with 'It's Not Unusual.' It was his first of 16 UK Top 40 hits during the 60's.

1967: Dick James who was a Music publisher, announced that no less than 446 different versions of the song 'Yesterday' by Paul McCartney, had been recorded so far.

1968: '(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay' by Otis Redding single went gold in the US, three months after he was killed in a plane crash.
1970: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, released Deja Vu, their first album in this configuration. It was also the second album by the trio configuration of Crosby, Stills, and Nash. The album topped the pop album chart for one week and had three US Top 40 singles: 'Teach Your Children', 'Our House', and 'Woodstock'.
1972: Neil Young topped the US & UK album chart with 'Harvest.' The album featured the hit single 'Heart Of Gold.'

1975: The Original Soundtrack, which was the third album by 10cc was released. The album featured the worldwide, multi million selling single 'I'm Not in Love' that was notable for its innovative and distinctive backing track, composed mostly of the band's multi-tracked vocals. The song was their breakthrough hit all over the world, topping the charts in Ireland and Canada and reaching the No.2 spot in the US. It also reached the top ten in Australia, New Zealand and several European countries.

1978: Bat Out Of Hell album by Meat Loaf, began a 416-week run on the UK chart. It sold more than 2 million copies.

1978: 'Wuthering Heights', the debut single from Kate Bush, which was inspired by the Emily Bronte novel, started a four-week run at the top of the UK singles chart. Record company, EMI had originally chosen another track, 'James and the Cold Gun' to be the lead single, but Kate Bush was determined that 'Wuthering Heights' would be the first single to be released from the album.
1989: Jason Donovan, who was an Australian actor, but turned to singer, scored his first UK No.1 single with 'Too Many Broken Hearts'. The song was written and produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman.

2015: Jimmy Greenspoon, keyboardist of Three Dog Night, died after battling with cancer. He was 67 years old. During the course of their career, Three Dog Knight had 21 top 40 hits, including three No.1 singles.

2016: English musician, Keith Emerson, died in Santa Monica, California, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He became depressed, nervous and anxious because nerve damage in his hands did not allow him to play anymore. He found his first commercial success with the Nice, in the late 1960s and was a founding member of Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP), one of the early progressive rock supergroups.
