1973: George Harrison replaced Paul McCartney from the top of the US singles chart with the song 'Give Me Love, Give Me Peace On Earth'. It was Harrison's second US No.1 hit, which also reached the No.8 spot in the UK. The song features on the album Living in the Material World from 1973.
1973: Slade topped the UK singles chart with 'Skweeze Me Pleeze Me', the band's fifth UK No.1 and also second single that entered the chart at the top.

1976: Stuart Goddard, (Adam Ant), placed an ad in the classified section of the Melody Maker. The ad said: 'Beat on a bass, with the B-Sides.' Andy Warren decided to answer this ad and the two formed together the act Adam and The Ants.

1990: New Kids On The Block started a three week run at the top of the US singles chart with the song 'Step By Step'. It was Their third US No.1, reaching the No.2 spot in the UK. Their album 'Step By Step' also topped the UK album chart today.

2014: The second album by Ed Sheeran, X, became the fastest-selling UK album of the year. It sold 182,000 copies on the first week, which were 14,000 more than Coldplay did with Ghost Stories that was released in the month of May.
