1966: Jimmy Page made his live debut with the band The Yardbirds at The Marquee Club London.

 

1966: The Beatles recorded from start to finish a new song by John Lennon called ‘She Said She Said’ at Abbey Road studios in London. The song was reportedly based on a strange conversation that John Lennon had with Peter Fonda while at the same time, John and George Harrison were tripping on the LSD drug.

1975: Captain and Tennille started a four week run at the top of the US singles chart with the song 'Love Will Keep Us Together' by Neil Sedaka. Both "Captain" Daryl Dragon and Cathryn Antoinette "Toni" Tennille who were husband and wife, had worked as backup musicians for Elton John and Neil Sedaka.

 

1975: Ritchie Blackmore who was the guitarist for Deep Purple decided to quit the band in order to form his own band, Rainbow. They went through many line-up changes with band members including: Ronnie James Dio, Cozy Powell, Doogie White, Graham Bonnet and Roger Glover.

 

1979: Angus MacLise, the first drummer of Velvet Underground died of tuberculosis at the age of 34. MacLise left Velvet Underground in 1965.

 

1986: Genesis scored their fourth UK No.1 album with 'Invisible Touch', the band's 13th studio album. The album stayed on the charts for 96 weeks, which made it the most commercially successful album of the band's career. It sold more than 15 million copies all over the world and produced five US Top 5 singles.

2001: American blues singer and guitarist John Lee Hooker, died in his sleep at the age of 83. He had the hits 'Dimples', 'Boom Boom' and 'I'm In The Mood'. Hooker's songs have been covered by many artists including Led Zeppelin, Cream, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, The Yardbirds, Van Morrison, The Doors and The White Stripes. Hooker also appeared and sang in the movie The Blues Brothers from 1980.

 

2011: Maroon 5 released the song 'Moves Like Jagger' which featuring Christina Aguilera. The lyrics of the song refer to a guy's ability to impress a girl with his dance moves, that he compares to the ones of of Mick Jagger. The video clip featured old video footage of Mick Jagger and his iconic dance moves. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 54th Grammy Awards. It also peaked at the top of the US chart.
