1972: Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were arrested in Warwick, Rhode Island. They were charged of assault after a fight broke out with a newspaper photographer.

1974: One of the biggest music festivals ever held, The Ozark Music Festival took place on the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Missouri. The festival was held over three days and it is said that the crowd count was around 350,000 people. Acts who appeared included: The Eagles, Aerosmith, Bachman–Turner Overdrive, Blue Öyster Cult, America, Marshall Tucker Band, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Boz Scaggs, Ted Nugent, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Electric Flag, Joe Walsh and Spirit.
1976: Deep Purple split up right after their UK tour. David Coverdale went on to form Whitesnake while Jon Lord and Ian Paice formed a band with Tony Ashton. The classic line up with Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord & Paice reformed and came back to life in 1984. Glenn Hughes returned to Trapeze and Tommy Bolin put together his own band.

1988: It was Bruce Springsteen's first ever show behind the Iron Curtain. He appeared in East Berlin in front of 180,000 people, no less. This show also broadcast on East German TV.

1991: Former Guns N' Roses drummer, Steven Adler, filed a suit in Los Angeles county court claiming that he was fraudulently removed from the group and that the band were responsible for introducing him to hard drugs.

1996: Top of the Pops music show saw The Spice Girls making their debut on UK TV. They performed their debut single ' Wannabe' which also gave them their first of nine UK chart toppers.
