1962: The Beatles played their first ever show in Wales when they performed at The Regent Dansette in Rhyl. The cost of tickets was 5 shillings ($0.70).

1964: The Rolling Stones topped the UK singles chart with the song 'It's All Over Now', the band's first of eight UK No.1 hits. It was written by Bobby Womack and Shirley Womack, and was first released by The Valentinos featuring Bobby Womack, that the same year.

1967: David Bowie released the single 'Love You Till Tuesday', however, the single didn't reach the charts. David Bowie's 1969 showpiece film Love You till Tuesday got its name from the song, which also featured over the opening credits.

 

1973: Clarence White of The Byrds was killed by a drunk driver, while he was loading equipment after a show in Palmdale, California. White joined the band in 1968, after they had recorded Turn! Turn! Turn!', 'Mr. Tambourine Man,' and 'Eight Miles High'.

 

1973: During a show at the John Wayne Theatre in Hollywood, California, Phil Everly smashed his guitar and got off the stage. Don had to finish the set by himself and later announced that The Everly Brothers had split. This was also the last that the two performed together for nearly 10 years.

 

1977: Elvis Costello and The Attractions made their live debut. In their show, they supported Wayne County at The Garden, Penzance, Cornwall, England.

1979: Donna Summer scored her third No.1 US single with the song 'Bad Girls'. The inspiration to write the song came to Summer after one of her assistants was offended by a police officer who thought that Summer was a street prostitute.

 

1982: The movie premier for Pink Floyd's The Wall took place at The Empire, Leicester Square, London, England. The film centers around a confined rocker named Floyd "Pink" Pinkerton and has earned $22 million in its first year alone. The film also won two British Academy Awards.

1986: Madonna topped the UK singles chart with the song 'Papa Don't Preach', which was also her second No.1 hit. She also had the UK No.1 album with her album 'True Blue'.
