1973: Stevie Wonder was seriously injured when the car he was riding in crashed into a truck on I-85 near Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He lay in a coma for four days, and this accident also left him without any sense of smell.

1974: ABBA scored their first US top 10 hit with 'Waterloo', as it reached No.6. in the chart. They were also on their first American tour.

1982: Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' movie starring Bob Geldof opened in movie theatres in New York. The film was conceived alongside the double album by Pink Floyd's, Roger Waters. he film is best known for its disturbing surreal environment, animated sequences, violence and gore, sexual situations, characterization, and many more that caused it to be one of the most surreal musicals of all time. The film has since fared well generally, and has established cult status.

1989: U2 band member, Adam Clayton was arrested in The Blue Light Inn car park in Dublin for marijuana possession and intent to supply the drug to another person. His conviction was waived in exchange for paying £25,000 to the Dublin Woman's Aid Centre.
