1962: While they were enjoying at the Ealing Jazz Club, in Ealing, West London, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards met Brian Jones for the very first time. Jones then was calling himself Elmo Lewis and was playing guitar with singer Paul Jones, who was performing under his real name of P. P. Pond.

1966: The Beatles were working at Abbey Road studios in London and recorded overdubs on the new song by John Lennon, 'Tomorrow Never Knows' and the new song by Paul McCartney, 'Got to Get You Into My Life' for their forthcoming new album, Revolver.

1985: Wham! became the first western pop group that performed live in China. They appeared at the workers gymnasium in Beijing.

 

1994: Singer, harmonica player and founding member of Dr. Feelgood, Lee Brilleaux, died of throat cancer at the age of 41. The band had the 1979 UK No.9 hit 'Milk And Alcohol' and the 1976 UK No.1 live album, 'Stupidity'. In 1976, Brilleaux helped to fund Stiff Records which was one of the driving forces of the “New Wave” of the mid-to- late-1970s, with a loan from singer and songwriter, John Hiatt.

2002: Gareth Gates topped the UK singles chart with his version of 'Unchained Melody.' This made him the seventh act to have a Top 40 hit with the song. Jennifer Lopez topped the US singles chart with 'Ain't It Funny' and Celine Dion topped the UK & US album charts with 'A New Day Has Come.'

2016: American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jimmie Van Zant, died in a hospice in Florida after several years of treatment for liver cancer. Van Zant began playing the guitar and piano when he was a child, and was mentored by his cousin Ronnie Van Zant, but gave up music up until the 1977 plane crash in which Ronnie, the founder and lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd, was killed. Jimmie then took up a career playing Southern rock music.
