1963: Members of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones met for the first time during a performance by The Rolling Stones at the Crawdaddy Club. The music venue in Richmond, Surrey, also saw performances by acts like Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Long John Baldry and Rod Stewart.

 

1969: The Beatles topped the UK singles chart with 'Get Back', the band's 16th UK No.1. Credited to "The Beatles with Billy Preston", it was the their only single that credited another artist. The song was also the band's first single release in true stereo in the US.

1971: The Rolling Stones released the album Sticky Fingers in the UK. Their first release on their own label via Atlantic Records, the cover was designed by Andy Warhol, who was paid $15,000 for his work. The LP sleeve featured a close-up of a pair of jeans with a working zip. It is assumed to be the jeans of Mick Jagger and the crotch photographed for the cover was actually that of actor Joe Dallesandro.

1976: Ramones released their eponymous debut album. The front cover shows the band members standing in a line leaning against a brick wall, which was taken by Roberta Bayley. The album cover was ranked No.58 on the list of 100 Greatest Album Covers made by Rolling Stones magazine.

 

1983: David Bowie started a three week run at the top of the UK album chart with 'Let's Dance', produced by Nile Rodgers. It features the song 'Let's Dance', which reached the No. 1 spot on the US and UK singles chart, as well as the song 'China Girl.'

 

1988: Iron Maiden topped the UK album chart with 'Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son', the band's second No.1 album.

1994: Pink Floyd topped the UK album chart with their album 'The Division Bell', the band's fourth No.1 album.
