The Dandy Warhols are an American alternative rock band that formed in 1994 in Portland, Oregon when singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor met guitarist Pete Holmstrom while he was studying Psychology, Sociology and music at Cascade College.
Taylor-Taylor worked as a mechanic after graduating and also played drums in a local band called Nero's Rome, before The Dandy Warhols took off. The band had some trouble finding a bass player at first, and after an unsuccessful attempt to get lead singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor's girlfriend to play play the drums, the band decided to invite Zia Mccabe to join the band after Taylor-Taylor met her, while she was working at a coffee shop.
The Dandy Warhols gained recognition after they signed with Capitol Records and released ...The Dandy Warhols Come Down, which was their debut album in 1997.
In 2001, the they gained even more success and fame after their song "Bohemian Like You" got extensive exposure after it started featuring in a Vodafone advertisement.
To this day, the band have released 9 studio albums, 6 EPs, 2 compilation albums and 27 singles.
