Enjoy!
Suzanne Vega is an American musician, singer, songwriter and record producer, who is best known for her eclectic folk-inspired music.
One of Suzanne Vega's most popular and successful songs is "Luka", which reached the No.3 spot on the US chart and the No.23 spot on the UK chart. The song is about child abuse and tells the story of a frightened boy, who is forbidden to talk about what he is going through.
Vega said that she saw a group of children playing in front of her building, and one of the kids whose name was Luka, seemed a little bit distinctive from the other children. This kid just seemed set apart from the other children. Vega does not think that this child suffered any abuse, but she did base the song on his character.
Other songs by Vega that reached the Top 40 charts in the UK and succeeded in the US as well include the singles: "Tom's Diner", ""Marlene on the Wall", "No Cheap Thrill" and "Left of Center".

Suzanne Vega wrote the song "Tom's Diner" whilst eating breakfast at Tom's restaurant in New York City.
Tom's restaurant was also used as the model for Jerry Seinfield's hang out in the hit sitcom Seinfield.
The song is actually an a cappella song that became a hit in 1990 when the British production duo DNA added a beat and released the remix as a bootleg.
