Music facts, music trivia, interesting stories and much more. Introducing the "Did You Know" page about Scottish folk rock band, Stealers Wheel.
Enjoy!
Stealers Wheel was a Scottish folk rock band that was formed in 1972 in Paisley, Scotland, by Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty who were friends in school. The band's best-known hit song is 'Stuck in the Middle with You'.
The song 'Stuck in the Middle with You' was actually written as a parody of Bob Dylan's paranoia, it ridiculed a music industry cocktail party, with the lyrics: "Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you".
The song which was composed as little more than a joke, became a huge hit due to its catchy pop arrangement, selling more than a million copies. 'Stuck in the Middle with You' also reached a new generation of listeners when Quentin Tarantino used it in the notorious ear-slicing scene in his movie Reservoir Dogs from 1992.
