Selena Gomez is an American singer and actress that received recognition after appearing on the children's television series Barney & Friends, for her portrayal of Alex Russo on the Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place. The show aired between 2007-2012.
Selena Gomez was named after the Tejano pop star Selena, who was tragically murdered at age 23 in 1995, three years after Selena Gomez was born.
