Scott McKenzie (real name: Philip Wallach Blondheim III) was an American singer and songwriter, that was best known for his hit single "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" from 1967, and that song is our interesting fact of the day.
The song "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" was written by John Phillips from The Mamas & the Papas as the unofficial anthem for the Monterey pop festival in San Francisco. The song was one of the big hippie hits during the summer of love in 1967. Scott McKenzie did wear flowers in his hair when he recorded the song.
Scott McKenzie started suffering from Guillain–Barré syndrome in 2010 and on August 18, 2012, he died in Los Angeles.
