Enjoy!
Santana is a rock and Latin music band that was formed in 1966 in San Francisco, California. The band was formed by Carlos Santana, a Mexican-American guitarist, and came to public attention after their performance of "Soul Sacrifice" in 1969 at Woodstock festival.
The band formed in Latin district of San Francisco and are named after Carlos Santana which is the leader of the group. When Neal Schon entered the group, there was some controversy because he was white.
Carlos Santana wanted to try a 2-guitar sound, and thought that Schon was a great guitar player, even though he didn't have a Latin heritage. When both Schon and Rolie left the band, they formed a different band, which is Journey.
Santana has sold over 100 million records all over the world, which makes them one of the best-selling groups of all time. The band has also won 9 Grammy Awards and 3 Latin Grammy Awards. Carlos Santana also holds a Grammy Award himself, after winning an award in 1988 for a solo artist.
In 1998, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Carlos Santana, David Brown, José "Chepito" Areas, Mike Carabello, Michael Shrieve and Gregg Rolie.

The song "Black Magic Woman" was a hit for Santana, but few people know that this song is actually a cover of a 1968 Fleetwood Mac song that reached the No.37 spot on the UK chart.
Peter Green, who was a founding member of the band Fleetwood Mac, wrote the lyrics. The royalties generated by Santana's cover of the song helped sustain Green after he decided to leave Fleetwood Mac.
Santana keyboard player, Gregg Rolie, was the one who sang lead on this song.
