Enjoy!
Pantera was an American heavy metal band that was formed in 1981 in Arlington, Texas. The band consisted of Abbott brothers Vinnie Paul (drums) and Dimebag Darrell (guitar), Terry Glaze (lead vocals) and Rex Brown (bass) who joined the band a year later when he replaced Tommy D. Bradford, who was the unofficial original.
One of the albums Pantera released was Vulgar Display of Power and the story behind the cover of this album is our interesting fact of the day. Pantera band members wanted the cover of the album to be vulgar, like a dude getting punched.
They didn't like the first version of the cover that was offered to them, as it showed a boxer with a punching glove, so a second album cover was produced. Vinnie Paul said that the man on the cover was paid $10 a punch and was hit 31 times until they got the right picture. On the other hand, Brad Guice said said that the man (Sean Cross) was never actually hit.
In 2003, Pantera was disbanded by the Abbott brothers due to communication problems and disagreements between the band members. The Abbott brothers formed the band Damageplan, but on On December 8, 2004, Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed during a concert in Columbus, Ohio, by a mentally unstable fan. On June 22, 2018, Vinnie Paul died as well at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 54 years old.
as of August 2017, it is estimated that Pantera has sold over 60 million records worldwide.
