The music of Nick Cave is generally characterised by emotional intensity, a wide variety of influences, and lyrical obsessions with religion, death, violence, and love. He is referred to as rock music's "Prince of Darkness" or "the Gothfather of Goth". Nick Cave's songs have been covered by many musicians and artists, among them Metallica , Johnny Cashand Arctic Monkeys.

Our interesting fact of the day concerns and award he has nominated for, yet decided not to be included, as Nick Cave asked his VMA nomination be withdrawn. You have to agree this is truly unusual.

In 1996, Nick Cave was nominated for best male artist based of the videos he shot for Murder Ballads. He thought it over and asked to be withdrawn from consideration. He was grateful for the attention that MTV had brought him and for the honor, but Cave felt that his music was better off not being part of a competition.

In 2007, Nick Cave was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
