Mumford & Sons are a British folk rock band that was formed in 2007 in London. The band consists of Marcus Mumford (lead vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drums), Winston Marshall (vocals, electric guitar, banjo), Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboard, piano, synthesizer) and Ted Dwane (vocals, bass guitar, double bass).

Marcus Mumford, who is the frontman of the band, attended King's college school in Wimbledon and it was there he first met fellow band member Bet Lovett. Marcus studied classics at the university of Edinburgh, but decided to return to London in order to focus on his music career after his first year of study.

Marcus actually penned some of the band's debut album, Sigh No More, during his time in the Scottish capital. The album Sign No More sold more than 1 million copies in both the US and UK, and also won The Brit Award in 2011 for Best British Album.

Mumford & Sons have won several music awards throughout their music career, and the live performance of the band at the 2011 Grammy ceremony with Bob Dylan and The Avett Brothers helped the band gain a lot of popularity in the US.

So far, Mumford & Sons have won 2 Grammy Awards out of 9 nominations, and also won the Brit Award for Best British Group in 2013.
