Enjoy!
Manic Street Preachers are a Welsh rock band that was formed in Blackwood, Caerphilly in 1986 and consists of James Dean Bradfield (lead vocals, lead guitar), Sean Moore (drums, percussion, soundscapes), and Nicky Wire (bass, lyrics).
Manic Street Preachers used to be a band that consisted of four members, and all were childhood friends from Wales, spending all spare moments with each other. Past band member Richey Edwards disappeared February 1st, 1995 and to this day haven't been found.
Manic Street Preachers are notorious for their intellectual lyrics, often containing quotations from historically important persons, politicians and philosophers. They became famous for controversial quotes about other bands, controversial and angry letters to the music press, and also by their glam-shock appearances during the band's early shows. All of this stirred up some trouble for the band, but also a die-hard fanbase.
Throughout the band's music career, they have headlined several big festivals like V Festival, Glastonbury, Reading and T in the Park. They won 11 NME Awards, 8 Q Awards and 4 BRIT Awards.
Manic Street Preachers have been nominated for the Mercury Prize in 1996 and 1999, and have had one nomination for the MTV Europe Music Awards. They reached the top of the UK charts three times: in 1998, with the album This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours and the single "If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next", and in 2000 with their single "The Masses Against the Classes".
Overall, Manic Street Preachers have sold over 10 million albums all over the world.
