Madonna is an American singer and songwriter, as well as an actress and a businesswoman.
She is also known as the "Queen of Pop" since the 1980s, pushing the boundaries of the content of her songs lyrics in mainstream popular music, as well as visual imagery in music videos and in concerts.
Throughout her music career, Madonna has written and produced almost all of her songs. Many of the song were very successful and topped the record charts, including the songs: "Papa Don't Preach", "Like a Virgin", "Like a Prayer", "Take a Bow", "Vogue", "Frozen" and others.
Another great song by Madonna was not written by her, and that's the song "Bedtime Story," which is our interesting fact of the day. This song was written by Bjork, Nelle Hooper and Marcus Devries, and the video clip for the song "Bedtime Story" was also Madonna's most expensive she had ever made.
The video clip cost $5 million and was the most expensive video ever made, until the video clip for the song "Scream" by Michael and Janet Jackson. Madonna has also stated, that the video ruined her hair at the time.
Madonna has sold over 300 million records all over the world and is recognized as the best-selling female recording artist of all time by Guinness World Records.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) listed Madonna as the second highest-certified female artist in the U.S., with 64.5 million album units, and according to Billboard, she is also the most successful solo act, second overall behind the Beatles. Madonna is also the highest-grossing solo touring artist of all time. She has earned $1.4 billion from concert tickets.
Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the first year of her eligibility and topped VH1's countdown of 100 Greatest Women in Music.

Madonna wrote the song "Live to Tell" with Patrick Leonard, who worked on many of Madonna's albums.
She said that the song "Live to Tell" was about her childhood, her relationship with her parents, her father and her stepmother. However, Madonna said that the song could also be about something in an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, or a story that she heard once.
"Live to Tell" was one of Madonna's first ballads. Early in her music career, she relied on dance songs, so, it took her a few years to develop the vocal range for the ballads.
