Enjoy!
Lipps Inc. was an American disco and funk group from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group originally consisted of Cynthia Johnson (lead vocals) and a changing lineup of session musicians including David Rivkin (guitar), Tom Riopelle (guitar) and Terry Grant (bass). Steven Greenberg wrote and produced most of the group's music.
They are best known for the 1980 hit "Funkytown" that topped charts all over the world and hit No.1 in 28 different countries worldwide. This hit was certified as double-platinum in sales.
The song "Funkytown" was written by Steven Greenburg when he became bored with Minneapolis and wanted to move to New York, which he called "Funkytown."
The group was actually formed especially for this hit song. They continued to record until 1985, changing lineup with the years, however they failed to produce the success they had had with their first hit, "Funkytown."
