Kenny G (real name: Kenneth Bruce Gorelick) is an American saxophonist.
He grew up in Seattle and became infatuated with saxophone after watching a musician play a saxophone on the Ed Sullivan show. He started taking lessons when he was 10 years old and later even tried out for his high school's jazz band.
Even though Kenny G had outstanding saxophone skills, he decided to enroll at the University of Washington to study accounting. Still, Kenny G kept playing with different local bands and in 1982, he signed a deal with Arista Records.
Kenny G's first five albums sold very well and became staples of easy listening radio. His sixth album, Breathless, that came out in 1992, became the bestselling instrumental album of all time, as it sold more than 12 million copies.
Today, Kenny G is the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era and one of the best-selling artists of all time. During his music career, he has sold more than 75 million records worldwide.
