K. D. Lang (real name: Kathryn Dawn Lang) is a Canadian country and pop singer and songwriter and also an occasional actress.
Her breakthrough came when Roy Orbison chose her to collaborate on a remake of his classic song, "Crying". K. D. Lang is considered by many to have one of the most distinctive and beautiful voices in the world of music, and has developed a career that defies description.
K. D. Lang entered the music world and industry as a country singer with a unique style, then she moved to her crossover pop smash album, Ingenue, and then Lang perfected her craft as a crooner.
K. D. Lang has shown a versatility that only a few of her peers have showed. The great Tony Bennett even called her the best singer since Judy Garland.
K. D. Lang has the vocal range of a mezzo-soprano, and has collaborated with many great and known acts, like: Elton John, Tony Bennett, Roy Orbison, Ann Wilson, Jane Siberry and others.
She has won several awards during her music career, including 4 Grammy Awards as well as Juno Awards. Some of Lang's best and most successful hits are "Constant Craving" and "Miss Chatelaine", and besides studio albums and singles, she has also contributed songs to movie soundtracks.
