Enjoy!
John Lee Hooker was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist that rose to fame when he performed an electric guitar-style adaptation of Delta blues.
John Lee Hooker started recording in 1948 under numerous names. He is one of the most recorded musicians in history, and has worked with many different record labels.
John Lee Hooker's father was a preacher who believed that the blues was the "devil's music," so, he was taught guitar by his stepfather, Will Moore. However, Hooker's first instrument was a tire tube nailed to a bar door. T-Bone Walker was the one who gave Hooker his first electric guitar.
He used to incorporate various elements in his music, including talking blues and early North Mississippi Hill country blues. Hooker developed his own driving-rhythm boogie style, which was distinct from the 1930s–1940s piano-derived boogie-woogie.
Some of John Lee Hooker's best known songs are: "Boogie Chillen'" (1948), "Crawling King Snake" (1949), "Dimples" (1956), "Boom Boom" (1962), "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" (1966) and more.
John Lee Hooker continued playing live music until his death on June 21, 2001 at the age of 83.
