Music facts, music trivia, interesting stories and much more. Introducing the "Did You Know" page about English rock guitarist, Jeff Beck.
Enjoy!
Jeff Beck is an English rock guitarist and one of the three noted guitarists that played with The Yardbirds. The other two are Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton.
The interesting fact of the day, is that Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Keith Moon, recorded the song "Beck's Bolero" and almost formed a band together.
The problem was that they couldn't find a lead singer, so instead of forming the intended band, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones decided to form Led Zeppelin instead, and the rest is history.
Jeff Beck went on to form The Jeff Beck Group and with Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice, he formed Beck, Bogert & Appice.
Beck was ranked fifth in Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time, and is also described as "one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock."
Jeff Beck has earned wide critical praise and received the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance 6 times and Best Pop Instrumental Performance award.
In 2014, Beck received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame not once, but twice. Once as a member of the Yardbirds in 1992, and again as a solo artist in 2009.
