Enjoy!
Jack Johnson is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, documentary filmmaker, actor and former professional surfer.
He is known to write new surf music, which is acoustic music with hints of blues, reggae and folk, but it's all inspired by the ocean.
Johnson quit pro surfing because of a nearly fatal accident. Before that, Johnson surfed everyday. He started out by making surfing videos and creating his own music to serve as background music. When other people began bootlegging his stuff, then he started taking music more seriously.
Johnson is one of the only musicians that appeared in ESPN magazine. His surfing video, Thicker Than Water, won the 2000 video of the year award from surfer magazine.
Johnson achieved commercial success in 2001, with the release of his debut album, Brushfire Fairytales. He topped the Billboard 200 chart with his albums Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George (2006), Sleep Through the Static (2008), To the Sea (2010), and From Here to Now to You (2013). His album In Between Dreams, peaked at No.2 on the chart in 2005 and again in 2013.
