Music facts, music trivia, interesting stories and much more. Introducing the "Did You Know" page about American rock band, Heart.
Enjoy!
Heart is an American rock band that was formed in 1973 in Seattle and found success in Canada first and only later in the United States and worldwide. Heart had three different lineups during the years, with the constant center of the group since 1973 being sisters Ann Wilson (lead vocals) and Nancy Wilson (guitar).
They rose to fame during the mid-1970s as their music was influenced by folk music, hard rock and heavy metal. During the early 1980s, the popularity of the band declined, but they enjoyed a comeback starting in 1985 and experiencing even greater success with album-oriented rock hits and hard-rock ballads into the 1990s.
To this day, Heart has sold more than 35 million records all over the world, including 22.5 million in album sales in the U.S. alone. They have had top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2010s.
Heart is ranked on the No.57 spot on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock", and in 2013 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
It's interesting to think that all of this success almost never happened. As it turns out, Ann Wilson once worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken and even thought of sending a platinum record to Colonel Sanders, the mascot of the restaurant.
Why you ask? Well, if Ann Wilson hadn't been fired from her job at Kentucky Fried Chicken, then Heart might not have been formed at all.
