Enjoy!
Florence and the Machine (also known as Florence + the Machine) are an English indie rock band that was formed 2007 in London, and consists of Florence Welch (vocals), Isabella Summers (keyboard), and a collaboration of other musicians.
Vocalist of the band, Florence Welch, was educated at Alleyn's school, South East London, where Welch did well academically. She was very gifted at singing and art, but often got in trouble for singing her favorite hymns too loudly.
Welch has been diagnosed with dyslexia and developmental dysphasia, but fortunately this has not gotten in the way of her singing and songwriting. Welch specializes in writing songs with dark, gothic lyrical content. She also once said that she has always been attracted to dark imagery and also used to believe in werewolves and vampires.
The sound of the band has been described as a combination of various genres, including soul and rock, receiving praise across the media. At the 2009 Brit Awards, Florence and the Machine received the Brit Awards "Critics' Choice" award. Also, the band's first three albums all topped the UK album chart.
During the band's music career, they have been nominated for 6 Grammy Awards including Best Pop Vocal Album and Best New Artist.
