Fiona Apple (real name: Fiona Apple McAfee-Maggart) is an American pianist, singer and songwriter.
Fiona Apple is the daughter of actor, Brandon Maggart and singer, Diane McAfee. She took up the piano when she was only 8 years old, and she regularly wrote short stories while she was growing up.
Fiona Apple also used to sing a lot, with her soulful bluesy sound influenced by her love for jazz legends Carole King and Billie Holiday.
Apple wrote her debut album, Tidal, when she was 17 years old. It was released in 1996 and won the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for the single "Criminal".
Apple's third album, Extraordinary Machine was certified gold and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. Overall, Apple was nominated 8 times for the Grammy Award with one win.
