Dido (real name: Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong) is an English singer and songwriter, and is named after an African warrior queen.
Dido's brother is Rollo Armstrong, founding member of the electronic music group, Faithless. He helped produce her first album and she even used to sing in the band.
Before Dido became a headliner in the U.S., she used to open shows for Sting and The Barenaked Ladies. She gained international success with her debut album No Angel from 1999, as it sold more than 21 million copies all over the world. The album also won several awards, including the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act, two Brit Awards for Best British Female and Best Album and two NRJ Awards for Best New Act and Best Album.
Her first two albums are among the best-selling albums in UK Chart history, with both albums feature on the top 10 best-selling albums of the 2000s in the UK.
