Nikki Sixx, Motley Crue's band member was always considered one of the most notorious party animals of the 1980s and according to him he had overdosed on heroin at least half a dozen times during his life.
One of the more interesting stories about Nikki Sixx happened in the year 1986 in London, when he overdosed on heroin at a drug dealer's house. The drug dealer tried to revive Sixx by beating the life back to him, but when all his attempts failed he decided dumping Sixx's body in a dumpster nearby.
Eventually, Sixx woke up in that dumpster when he's surrounded by trash but it's always better than being dead. This event was also the inspiration to "Valentine's in London, found me in the trash".
Another interesting story in Nikki Sixx's life was in 1987 when Motley Crue toured together with Guns N' Roses during the Appetite for Destruction Tour. During this tour, Sixx was doing heroin in Slash's hotel room and there he suffered another drug overdose. Slash's girlfriend called for help as Slash wasn't in the room that time and when the paramedics arrived, Nikki Sixx was barely breathing.
During the ride to the hospital, Sixx was declared dead for 2 minutes as he stopped breathing. Paramedics continued to apply care to Sixx and eventually they were able to save his life and revive him.
You think it's over now? The story gets even more bizarre because when Sixx woke up in the hospital, he decided ripping off the tubes out of his nose, escaping into the parking lot and from there hitching a ride back to his house wearing only a pair of leather pants.
In the house he continued doing heroin and later on was found sleeping with the syringe still in his arm.
When the story was published internationally, the band members decided to enter rehab and in 1989, Motley Crue released their hit single "Kickstart My Heart" which was inspired by this amazing overdose event.
Who said the 80s were no fun? Not according to Nikki Sixx...
