The song "Clocks" by Coldplay is about love. The lyrics of the song are about being in a conflicted, but very intense relationship as precious time slips away.
Lead singer, Chris Martin, came up with the lyrics and the piano riff shortly before Coldplay released the album. The band did not have much time, and so they planned to work on the song "Clocks" for their next album.
A friend of Chris Martin heard the demo, and convinced the band members to do whatever was necessary to record the song for A Rush of Blood to the Head album, especially since the song deals with the importance of time.
