Chris de Burgh (real name: Christopher John Davison) is a British-Irish singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. He has had several hits enter the top 40 in the UK charts and two hits enter the US chart, but he is actually more popular and successful more in other countries, like Brazil and Norway.
His most famous song is the 1986 hit and love song "The Lady in Red", which topped the music charts in several countries. Chris started writing the song about his wife Diane, after an argument, but he was having a hard time finishing it, because he needed a title to the song.
He didn't want to use "The Way You Look Tonight" because there was already a song with that name. Five months later, he saw Diane wearing red across a crowded nightclub, and that gave him the idea for the title to the song.
Chris said that the song was inspired by the memory of when he first saw Diane, and also how men so often cannot even remember what their wives were wearing when they first met.
Over the years, Chris De Burgh has sold more than 45 million records all over the world.
