Bob Marleywas a Jamaican singer and songwriter who became an international musical and cultural icon. He was known for blending mostly reggae, rocksteady and ska music in his compositions.

From 1963-1974 he was part of the group The Wailers, and when the band broke up, Bob Marley continued with a solo career, establishing his worldwide reputation and elevated his status as one of the world's best-selling artists of all time, selling over 75 million records.

Bob Marley is credited with popularising reggae music around the world and also served as a symbol of Jamaican culture and identity.

Before becoming famous and a huge icon, Bob Marley grew up being poor and had to work different jobs to support himself. He worked as an assembly line worker, waiter, lab assistant and fork lift operator.

After Marley succeeded in the world of music and found fame and fortune, he bought houses for several less fortunate friends in Jamaica, and even decided to give writing credits to his famous and popular song "No Woman, No Cry" to Vincent Ford, who was his friend, so Ford would be able to fund his soup kitchen.

unfortunately, Bob Marley died on May 11, 1981 in Miami after suffering from type of malignant melanoma. He was 36 years old.
