Bob Dylan (real name: Robert Allen Zimmerman) is an American singer, songwriter, artist and author who had great influence on the music world and culture for more than five decades. His lyrics incorporate a wide range of social, political, literary and philosophical influences.

Bob Dylan has amplified and personalized different musical genres. During his music career, he has explored many of the traditions in American song, from blues, folk and country to rock and roll, gospel, jazz and more. Dylan performs on guitar, keyboards, and harmonica and is backed by a changing lineup of musicians. He has been touring and performing steadily since the late 1980s.

Here are a few interesting facts about Bob Dylan:

1. Charlie Chaplin is one of Dylan's biggest influences. Early in his career, Dylan would use his hat as a prop during shows, just as Charlie Chaplin did in his films.

2. John H. Hammond signed Dylan to Columbia Records after he heard him play harmonica on a Carolyn Hester album, without any permission from his bosses.

3. Dylan didn't speak for a whole week after Elvis Presley died. He said that if it wasn't for Elvis Presley and Hank Williams, he couldn't be doing what he did today.

4. Suze Rotolo, who was Bob Dylan's girlfriend between 1961-1964, was the inspiration for many of his classic songs.

Dylan has also published 7 books of drawings and paintings, and since 1994, his work has been exhibited in major art galleries. He has also won and received many awards during his music career, among them are 11 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award.

In 1988, Dylan has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Minnesota Music Hall of Fameand Songwriters Hall of FameIn 2012, Dylan received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama, and, in 2016, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Over the course of his career, Bob Dylan has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making Dylan one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
