Armin van Buuren is a Dutch DJ, remixer and record producer from South Holland.
He started making music when he was 14 years old, playing more than four times a week during school holidays. Armin van Buuren worked as a DJ in a local night club called Nexus, and then followed his dream to become a professional musician.
Van Buuren has a law degree and could have been a lawyer or practice law, yet decided to become a musician. He began making music after he was inspired by French electronic music composer, Jean Michel Jarre.
Armin van Buuren has won several awards and DJ Mag has been ranked him at the top of the DJ's list a record of five times, four years in a row. In 2015 and 2016, van Buuren was ranked fourth on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs and third in 2017.
In 2014, van Buuren was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for his single "This Is What It Feels Like" which made him the fourth trance artist ever to receive a Grammy Award nomination.
Armin van Buuren also holds the record for most entries (21) on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart in the US.
