Enjoy!
Alabama is an American country and Southern rock band that was formed in 1969 in Fort Payne, Alabama by Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Teddy Gentry (bass guitar, background vocals). They were later joined by Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, and keyboards).
Teddy Gentry worked many odd jobs while trying to make it as a musician. At one point, Gentry was even a full-time carpet installer. Jackie Owen also worked physical jobs that included bricklaying, painting and hanging sheet rock.
Alabama's biggest success came during the 1980s. They scored more than 27 No.1 hits, 7 multi-platinum albums and received numerous awards. After Alabama started gaining fame and succeeding, Teddy Gentry bought his grandfather's cotton farm. The following year, he purchased the neighboring farm also, a farm that had belonged to his great-grandfather.
Alabama has scored more than 30 No.1 country records on the Billboard charts and have sold more than 75 million records, which makes them the most successful band in country music history.
Alabama were also the first country act that earned quadruple-platinum status, for sales of 4 million copies of an album.
