Adele (real name: Adele Laurie Blue Adkins) is an English singer and songwriter. After she graduated from the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in 2006, she was given a recording contract by XL Recordings thanks to her friend who decided to post a demo of hers on Myspace the same year.
Adele get very nervous before shows, and usually doesn't eat before performances for fear of a reversal. She has another big fear which is a fear of flying. Adele says that she is convinced she is going to die whenever she gets on a plane. In an effort to calm herself down and get over her nerves, Adele created an alter ego by the name of "Sasha Carter", which is a combination of Beyonce's "Sasha Fierce" and June Carter Cash.
Adele's debut album, 19, that was released in 2008 was a huge success and is certified seven times platinum in the UK, and three times platinum in the US. Her second album, 21, that was released in 2011 was critically well received and even surpassed the success of her debut album.
Adele was named Artist of the Year by Billboard in the years 2011, 2012 and 2016. She was named Songwriter of the Year by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors in 2012 and 2016 and was ranked on the fifth spot of the 100 Greatest Women in Music that was made in 2012.
Adele has won 15 Grammy Awards out of 18 nominations, has sold over 100 million records worldwide and is without a doubt is one of the world's best-selling music artists.

Adele wrote the song "Rolling in the Deep" in three hours the day after she broke up with her boyfriend.
Adele arrived upset to the studio the day after she broke up with her boyfriend, and wanted to write a lovelorn ballad. Producer Paul Epworth was the one who persuaded her to write a more feisty song. Adele described this song as a kiss-off to an unfaithful dude.
According to Billboard, this was the biggest crossover song of the last 25 years, showing up on 12 different radio airplay formats, even Latin.
