A-ha is a Norwegian band that was formed in 1982 in Oslo, Norway. The band consists of Morten Harket (vocals, guitars), Magne Furuholmen (keyboards, guitars) and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy (guitars).

A-ha rose to fame in the mid-1980s after being discovered by John Ratcliff (producer and musician), and continued its worldwide success in the 1990s and 2000s as well.

Our interesting fact of the day is about one of A-ha's songs, "Cry Wolf." The video for the song "Cry Wolf" supposedly contains some scenes which are not visible by the human eye, but if you slow the video down, you will be able to spot children who are saying: "I want to be in an A-ha video."

A-ha has released 10 studio albums, 4 live albums and several compilations. They are also one of the 40–50 largest grossing bands in the world and are listed in the Guinness World Records book for having the biggest rock concert attendance, when 198,000 fans came to wach them at a live show at Maracanã Stadium in Brazil, during Rock in Rio festival.

Another interesting fact about A-ha is the Guinness World Record that is held by the band's singer for the longest live note held. Harket was able to hold a note during the song "Summer Moved On" for 20.2 seconds.

During their musit career, A-ha have sold approximately 55 million records.

Pal Waaktaar, guitarist of a-ha wrote the song "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." when he and Mags, keyboardist of the band, were in a hotel watching English television on a rainy day and the guy on T.V. announcing the program said: "It's a rainy day but, as always, the sun always shines on T.V."

The song "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." is about the power of television and the way television presents life.

The song "Take On Me" by a-ha became a hit in the US because of its innovative video, where a cartoon figure beckons the reader to join him in comic.

The video was inspired by the transformation scene in the 1980 sci-fi movie Altered States. Every scene was shot live, and then projected onto paper.

With this hit song, a-ha became the first Norwegian band to have a No.1 hit in USA.

The song "The Living Daylights" by A-ha was the theme tune to the James Bond movie The Living Daylights.

The band were the last act that collaborated with score composer John Barry. A-ha were very hot at the time, but the band members don't have happy memories of their work with Barry on the song to the movie.

However, despite the band's tense relationship with Barry, guitarist of the band, Pal Waaktaar admitted that he liked what Barry brought to the song The Living Daylights, especially the really cool string arrangement. He said that that's when the song, for him, started to sound like a Bond thing.
