14 Music Myths That Totally Are Not True

#14: Miley Cyrus was pregnant in 2007 and the father was Nick Jonas
In 2007 the entertainment world was very much surrounded around Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers since they were a first wave of the tween phenomenon. Not surprisingly, someone decided to Photoshop an interview of Miley Cyrus from the magazine J-14 and claimed that she was 14 and pregnant. So, next time take into consideration that Photoshop is close to god because you can really do everything with it!
#13: Marilyn Manson had his ribs removed so he'll be able to give himself…a blow job
As ridiculous as this story sounds, people did talk about this and so it became a myth. This was a pretty huge rumor back in the late '90s and early '00s but how come people believed it? Well, because it's Marilyn Manson and he's a total weirdo so it seemed possible he actually did such an operation. The truth is that Manson is a normal and nice guy when he's not on stage and the myth is totally not true. On top of that, at the time this myth was going around, Manson was dating the beautiful and lovely Rose McGowan so why would he needed to blow himself when he had Rose McGowan to…well, you get the picture.
#12: The character of Paul Pfeiffer from The Wonder Years was played by Marilyn Manson
Remember The Wonder Years? A great TV series that aired between 1988-1993 and the character of Paul Pfeiffer was the best friend of character Kevin Arnold, but did Marilyn Manson played Paul Pfeiffer at that show? The resemblance is great between the two and this rumor started when there was no IMDB or Wikipedia to check the truth so it was easy to create this myth. The truth is that the character of Paul Pfeiffer was played by none other than Paul Saviano. Don't know who he is? Well, he's not Marilyn Manson that's for sure.
#11: Lauryn Hill would rather die than have a white person buy her albums
The rumor goes all the way back to the year 1996, when some caller on The Howard Stern Show said he saw Lauryn Hill making statements that were anti-white during an interview on MTV. The rumor spread so fast that even before MTV could announce Hill did not make such a statement, everyone already heard about it and it was talked about everywhere. Lauryn Hill clarified later on that she does not hate white people but she does love black people and makes her music for them.
#10: Meg White and Jack White are brother and sister
This myth is actually a complete fault of Jack White as in early interviews with the band, he told reporters he and Meg White were siblings, but that was weird because they were actually married and later on divorced, so how could they have been siblings? The reason the two have the same last name is because Jack White took Meg's last name when they got married and he kept it ever since, so here's your answer.
#9: The name of band 311 stands for the KKK since K is the 11th letter of the alphabet
This rumor did not leave the band since the '90s and we are here to let you know that this myth is totally false. There are various bands that use initials or numerology as codes like the number 88 which is a popular number in the Neo-Nazi community which stands for HH or Heil Hitler. As for 311, the truth is that their name stands for the Omaha police citation for indecent exposure.
#8: Ciara was born with a penis
The rumor started to spread around during the mid-'00s and followed artist, dancer, fashion model and actress Ciara for most of her career. This myth started because she blew up in the crunk community very quickly and apparently someone wasn't too thrilled about it and decided to make up this evil and false story.
#7: Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain
Seriously, does someone believe this myth? Sadly, Kurt Cobain who was a great artist and musician struggled all his life with drug addiction and bipolar disorder and I guess the pain and suffering were too much for him that he decided to end his own life. Cortney Love did not kill Kurt Cobain.
#6: Rihanna slept with Jay-Z when she was only 17 in order to jump start her career
People love rumors and this one is a very juicy and a good one to know and keep alive, especially if you're not too fond of Rihanna, Jay-Z and Beyonce. The story says that in 2007 or 2008, Jay-Z had an affair with Rihanna and this affair helped Rihanna become a huge superstar that she is today. There are more rumors surrounding this trio such as that "Bow Down" and "Ring the Alarm" by Beyonce are actually about Rihanna, but there is no proof to support this claim and rumor. These are most probably false myths because what helped Rihanna become a huge success was her single "SOS" which went platinum and topped the Billboard 100 charts for 3 consecutive weeks and that's probably the reason why everyone (most of us) know who Rihanna is.
#5: T.I. is a snitch
In 2007, T.I. was arrested on federal charges only hours before he was supposed to perform at the BET awards. His credibility in the rap community started to dwindle and his reputation as being a snitch became more and more prominent. T.I. addressed this rumor and stated that he is definitely not a snitch and that he actually lives by the "G code."
#4: Smashing Pumpkins band member Billy Corgan starred on Small Wonder when he was a kid
This rumor is another one of those "this weirdo looks very much like this kid from an '80s sitcom" rumors. So no, Smashing Pumpkins band member, Billy Corgan was not an actor as a child and the character of Jamie Lawson from Small Wonder was actually played by Jerry Supiran.
#3: R. Kelly is the real reason Aaliyah's plane crashed
Many people are fascinated with R. Kelly and Aaliyah's relationship as R. Kelly was her mentor for a long period of time during her career and the two were even possibly married for a short time when Aaliyah was 18 years old. The false rumor is that Kelly somehow "tampered" with Aaliyah's plane in order for it to crash. Come on! Really? Talk about paranoia and false accusations…
#2: Lady Gaga is a hermaphrodite
This rumor comes from a live footage of Lady Gaga's performance in 2009 when the shape of her dress made it look as if she had a penis. So, the rumor started that Lady Gaga is really a hermaphrodite that has both sex organs. In August of 2009, Lady Gaga was asked about it in an interview and she told the DJs of an Australian FM station that she was not offended but that this specific rumor about her did hurt her vagina's feelings. Powerful words indeed…
